SOCIAL IMPACT PROJECTS

Social impact projects at InkuA span a broad spectrum, inspiring individuals to create almost anything they envision for a better world. These range from environmental sustainability efforts, health and wellness initiatives, and technology access programs, to entrepreneurial support, cultural preservation, public health campaigns, gender equality movements, renewable energy projects, legal aid services, disaster preparedness, water conservation efforts, education and literacy drives, food security solutions, anti-discrimination campaigns, and anything our members can imagine! 

OUR HISTORY

Frank Escudero was the head of a marketing firm and an IT and Cybersecurity consultant and doing great when his health suddenly began to deteriorate. He was plagued by debilitating migraines, fainting spells, sleep deprivation, nausea, and constant pain. After 2 years of enduring that nightmare, he was told that he had a small growth inside his spinal nerve and that there was nothing that could be done. He went from from having a bright future to just having some weeks left to live in horrible pain.

When the pandemic hit, hospitals in Argentina only accepted COVID patients, so he was unable to receive further treatment. At that point, he began to lose his ability to walk. He was allowed to board an emergency flight to Frankfurt, Germany, to receive medical attention. During his long stay in various hospitals, he spent months thinking about what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. When a person is on the verge of death, there is a lot of reflection about what is really important in life and what one’s legacy should be.

Work was a distraction from the pain, and work to help others gave Frank a sense of purpose. So most of his ideas had to do with projects to make the world a better place. During this time, he was helped tremendously by Fabian Nguyen, among other friends and co-workers, who supported him and helped him to develop these concepts. Fabian, a very smart project developer for KfW, said: "We have great ideas, but we don't have the resources or even the time to work on even half a project". Then something clicked and the team realized they could offer internships that would allow interns to work on social impact projects while earning valuable work experience and soft skills.

That's how the core concept of INKUA was born. The name was created by combining "Talent Incubator and Project Accelerator''. In its first year, INKUA received more than 35,000 applications and onboarded more than 3,000 people to join its team. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and Frank and Fabian received hundreds of thank-you notes from people who made friends, projects, jobs, or found meaning through their work at INKUA. 

By focusing on helping others to overcome his own pain and fear, Frank found the strength to carry on and make a near-complete recovery in September 2023.

That's the energy behind INKUA.

INKUA is a testament to the power of the human spirit and the impact that individuals can have on others. INKUA's story is a reminder that no matter what obstacles we face, we can always find peace and the strength to overcome them by working with others and making a positive impact on those around us.
